The 2007 10 or Less Film Festival * October 18th-20th * Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd, PDX, Oregon | ||
10 FEST UPDATE! Well, another chapter comes to a close as the 2007 10 or Less Film Festival closes the curtain on a sixth year. The fest was a great success, and we wish to thank again everyone who made it possible, from our generous sponsors to all our volunteers, to the filmmakers and everyone who braved the weather and came out to the theater. If you attended the fest and believe arts events such as this are important, you can show your support by checking out the products and services our local sponsors offer. As any filmmaker (and festival coordinator) will tell you, this is risky business, and you’ve got to do it for the love of the game, and a belief that cinema shouldn’t be dominated by megaplexes, bludgeoning product placement, and spoon-fed Hollywood formula from the silver teat. So kudos to every filmmaker that submitted their film and everyone who came out to support the fest! 2007 10 OR LESS FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS BEST IN THE FEST: Massacre at Murambi, directed by Sam Kauffmann CANNES! MILAN! PORTLAND! Nothing says glitz, decadent opulence, and a bit of that “old Hollywood” charm like Portland’s own 10 or Less Film Festival! Previously known as the Portland International Short Short Film Festival, 10 Fest hosts three evenings of the world’s greatest short films, all running 10 minutes or less.
NEW PRESS Asian Reporter: "[10 Fest] reflects the diversity of style and substance film festival co-producers Film Action Oregon and Sour Apple Productions are eager to put before the public." The Portland Mercury: "With all films running at 10 minutes or less, you don't have to suffer through a lot of crap to get to the good stuff...totally worth your time." Willamette Week: "...filled with savory morsels." Created in 2002 by Portland filmmaker Tony Fuentes, 10 Fest encourages independent filmmakers to submit their work, and each year we strive to develop a program that represents the best in contemporary short films--films that buck the trends of mainstream cinema and use the short-subject medium to their advantage. This year’s offerings include narrative, documentary, experimental and genre-defying films from Japan, Australia, Republic of Korea, Spain, France, Rwanda, the UK, Canada, the United States, and a healthy sample from Portland’s own indigenous film scene. Four unique and fantastic shorts programs, three nights of ADD-addled revelry, one holy hell of a hangover...but, ah, we're getting ahead of ourselves. In addition to the shorts programs, we're rolling out a whole slew of offsite events, including several after-parties and a DIY filmmaker workshop. Then back at the Hollywood, we're adding a special young filmmakers screening, co-hosted by Vancouber BC's Reel Youth Film Festival. There may be one or two happenings still in the wings, so check back with us for updates. Thank you to every filmmaker who submitted to this year’s festival, and of course, to you, dear audience member, for taking a chance and checking out some films you will undoubtedly see nowhere else. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. So grab the keys to the Alpha Romero and a bottle of chilled Asti, and join us for three epic nights of short cinema. The 10 or Less Film Festival: because 15 minutes of fame is just too much. Cheers! NEWS 10 FEST T-SHIRTS FOR SALE!
